The Works es el undécimo álbum de la banda inglesa Queen. El disco fue grabado en los estudios Record Plant y Musicland entre agosto de 1983 y enero de 1984 y salió a la venta el 27 de febrero de 1984 en el Reino Unido y al día siguiente en Estados Unidos. Esta obra marcó un regreso parcial del grupo a sus raíces dentro de la música rock, aunque este acercamiento fue mucho más ligero. También es el álbum de Queen donde hay un mayor uso de música electrónica.

The Works fue el álbum de Queen con mayor permanencia en el ranking musical del Reino Unido (93 semanas), llegando al puesto número 2. En Estados Unidos no provocó mayor impacto aunque algo distinto sucedería en Latinoamérica donde el fue un éxito arrollador con canciones como Radio Ga Ga,I Want to Break Free y It's a Hard Life.

El álbum fue producido por Queen y Reinhold Mack; fue promocionado por la gira The Works Tour entre 1984 y 1985

Slash es el primer álbum en solitario de Slash, guitarrista de Velvet Revolver y antiguo guitarrista de Guns N' Roses. Numerosas estrellas de la música han participado en la grabación del disco.
En su autobiografía publicada en 2007, Slash revelaba su intención de grabar un álbum con artistas de su gusto y que el título del disco sería Slash & Friends (en español Slash y Amigos). Finalmente el título es simplemente Slash. Durante 2009, Slash ha informado los fans de los pormenores de la grabación del disco a través de su Twitter y de Myspace.

The Strokes es una banda estadounidense de rock, concretamente de Nueva York, formada en 1998. Alcanzaron la fama a principios del año 2000. Tras el lanzamiento de su aclamado álbum debut Is This It en 2001, muchos críticos nombraron al grupo como los “salvadores del rock”.
Julian Casablancas, vocalista del grupo y Nikolai Fraiture, bajo, eran amigos desde la infancia. Nick Valensi, guitarrista, y Fabrizio Moretti , el baterista, se conocieron cuando asistían a clases. En el Instituto Le Rosey, en Suiza, Julian Casablancas (a quien su padre había enviado por sus problemas de conducta) y Albert Hammond Jr., uno de los guitarristas, se conocieron ya que los dos eran estadounidenses y por lo tanto concordaban en su idioma, aunque no eran tan amigos, más bien conocidos.
